On March 11, 2011, the Tohoku region of Japan was hit by one of the most powerful earthquakes ever recorded, and then hit by one of the largest tsunamis ever recorded. Almost 20,000 people were killed, and the lives of hundreds of thousands more were forever changed.
As the people of Tohoku Region and Japan rebuild their lives, we can help by buying Tohoku products. Buying Tohoku products helps create jobs. It revives businesses, generating employment and income, and will be a source of encouragement for the people of the Tohoku Region.
On this website you will find lists of products from the Tohoku Region, and where you can buy them outside Japan. By buying these products, and by encouraging your local supermarkets, grocers and Japanese restaurants to stock these products, you can help Tohoku.

As at
, we are not yet able to recommend consumption of food products from Tohoku, due to the ongoing fears of radiation contamination of food grown in the area surrounding Fukushima. While radiation levels in the area surrounding the Fukushima nuclear plants are low, there is no definitive statement on the safety of food products from the region.
Once a thorough and transparent testing and certification procedure is in place, we will be able to recommend that people buy products grown and manufactured in Tohoku, and help the people of Tohoku and surrounding prefectures recover.
